A large group of photographers had gathered at this Horseshoe Park location in Rocky Mountain National Park to capture a herd of elk as the sun was setting. Once the lighting was low, people started packing up and heading back to Estes Park. By the time the clouds were all lit up with pink and purple hues, I was the only person standing here watching the peaceful sunset as bull elk bugled. I was amazed that nobody else stayed to watch the beauty unfold in the autumn sky. If you look closely, you can see an elk herd at the right of the image where a huge bull elk is calling out to the night.
