Colorado Sunrise - American Basin This photograph features a stunning sunrise in American Basin in the San Juan mountain range. Colorful Columbine and Indian Paintbrush Wildflowers fill the frame as the early morning light hits the top of American Peak and the clouds above. This location is found along the Alpine Loop, a popular four wheeling route near the town of Lake City, Colorado. It is also well known because it is the beginning of the standard route to climb one of the most beautiful Colorado 14ers, Handies Peak.
